Hey!!!It's time to update my past three weeks in USM---playing trombone(blowing, actually). It was remarkably awesome spending time with them.Seriously, this camp drew me close to people I was not close before.I don't know how to describe this.It is just beyond words.
It felt like yesterday that Audrey and Stephie left Jazz Band. But,I decided to stay after disappearing for 6practices.It just that I had a solid voice from God that I need to stay for the reason that I have yet to know. But knowing that this morning 5 Jazz-banders(that's how we call ourselves) came to my church and two of them are non-Christian just delighted me.I am happy, you know.I am just pleased in joy.
Awesome three weeks passed like it was just a day ago.I learnt to do what's right and what's not.I learnt to be patient and pray to God when I had difficulty in playing trombone. It really drove me to another level.I realised that if I want to be the agent of change in Jazz Band,I have to be good in what I am doing now--playing the right notes at the right beat.
Jazz Band is not all-good-band.It seriously take commitment and time away.I was hardly breathing and was so exhausted practicing that I went for naps during practices. It had two sessions of practices,10a-12p and 2-5p with full practice from 8.30p to 11.30p.It was testing my commitment in Jazz Band.
In mission conference,I heard voices from God asking me to stay because I asked Him whether I should commit myself in Jazz Band. The answer was 'Yes'.
I am taking this oportunity to introduce some of my all-good-but-crazy friends in Jazz Band.First of all, Miyeko Lotus!!She was the one I met during orientation week during my first year.Together,we joined Jazz Band and she was a clarinet player but took a role of playing tenor saxophone and she is real deal here. She was my room-mate for twice and thanks God for her awesome friendship and companion.
Next,Jonathan Tin (whom I called ''Biawak'') and he is playing alto saxophone.I guessed most girls were attracted to his seriousness in playing saxophone or think that he is all-cool.BUT,do not be deceived.*haha*.He is all-kind-but-crazy man.I still remembered the dislike I had on him because some statements he said. But human are weirdos. We are like in ''brotherhood' now.
Weng Jen is like my favourite smiley-man.He is all ''tumblersmile''(that's his blog-name).Yeah,he was the one I went to Vietnam with.He plays alto saxophone as well. The saxophone that I decided to let go and be faithful to my current trombone.LOLx.But he is good in saxophone at the rate of a beginner. Thanks to his commitment to drive us around during music camp that we can moved our things easily. But,do not be deceived by his decency and quietness because he is actually one-of-the-awesome-people u can befriend with.He always managed to open my eyes to see things from other perspectives.
CY Chua!!I always call him CY,though. He was my tenor-trombone partner but now he changed to bass-trombone.But he is a fun but systematic person to be with. One of a kind. This music camp I have got to know him even more.I realised that he got this serious side.*so scary**just kidding*.He taught me lots as well but the most significant would be tolerance lessons.A good friend that will be there for you.=)
Jane. She is my senior. The closest 3rd-year senior whom I got closer in this music camp. Was really glad that she always drive us around. She is a flutist and she always gave encouragements to juniors like us-a beginner like her once upon a time.It was easy to blend with her.
KingHui.*he is known as the SS king*.A very humorous person who is very responsible and commit in everything that he was handling. He took care of his juniors as well that's why CY and Jonathan is close to him.He did a lot for Jazz Band actually. It was good to have a ''play-maker'' like him who always make things smoother. He is a partner of Miyeko-tenor sax.
The list goes on and this post is getting long-winded.^^
Ciao for now.=)
